About DeCare

De Sales Center for Accompanied Renewal and Empowerment (DeCare) is an initiative by the MSFS (Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales) fathers to offer a holistic approach to mental health, spirituality and integrated life for clergy, men and women religious. Its goal is to provide accompanied assistance to the priests and religious who are going through difficulties in life due to mental health problems, personality disorders and behavioural dysfunctions either by way of residential programs, regular outpatient program or periodical therapy sessions.
DeCare is housed in Makkiad in Wayanad district, northern part of Kerala state of India. Makkiyad is a conducive place for our ministry of healing, empowerment and rehabilitation. The serene and quiet atmosphere of this place helps people to experience peace and healing naturally. This is a beautiful hill station with a lot of greenery and natural beauty. The current infrastructure consists of two separate blocks, one of which houses the residence of the director and the therapy room, while the other with 10 rooms is the residential block for the clients and residential staff.
At DeCare, we strive to provide an atmosphere of unconditional acceptance and genuine empathy through which the clergy and religious, who have been facing challeges in their personal life and in ministry, can experience healing and reaffirmation. DeCare guarantees a non-judgemental environment where the person can freely explore and express himself/herself.
